Muriel Denison (1886-1954)

Canadian author. Born in Winnipeg in 1886. She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and was married to playwright Merill Denison. She wrote a few books for children, of which her most popular were the 'Susannah' series, the adventures of a young girl, including some horsy ones. The first in the series was very loosely adapted into a film starring Shirley Temple.

Susannah Series:
Part pony series, part general children's. I have included the whole series here as I am not sure how much pony content is in each of them.

Collector's Info:
The first book was republished to tie in with the Shirley Temple film and was re-titled to match the film title. This 'Shirley Temple' edition and its reprints are easier to find than the editions with the original title. British editions also used the alternative title.
The first book in the series, although it is not particularly common, is the easiest of the series to find. As it was published in the UK, it can also be found here. The French edition is also fairly readily available. The other titles are rare and can be hard to find and pricey, especially outside of the USA.
